Friday - Jan 16th - We're Off !

Journaled by KD:

Karen and I started off our journey with a slight buzz by downing a Jack and Diet Coke in the Jacksonville Airport. After all, it was 5 o'clock somewhere and we're excited to be finally on our way. The seats in the Delta 747 were much roomier than the KLM Airbus we're in now. I'm squeezed on both sides by the arms and feel sorry for anyone with a larger rear than mine. We're waiting for the push back in Atlanta to head for AMSTERDAM! Everyone around us is speaking a different language. When we were trying to help a young Dutch couple get settled , an Irish guy said "Those Americans are holding everything up" quite rudely. Oh well, you can't please everyone.

Dinner on board KLM was a lovely Asian Fusion delight served with free wine or beer. This was preceeded by a warm scented towel. After dinner, we were offered cognac or coffee and Bailey's... SWEET ! We settle in for the long, 7 hour flight and try to get a nap.

So, foreign airliners are still serving meals..and good ones at that. Sweeeet!!!

We're your hips and legs numb by the time you got there?
It's funny how the airlines are making seats smaller when it's a fact that humans have grown wider. lol!
